Organ transplantation is the best and frequently the only lifeâ??saving treatment for patients with endâ??stage organ failure. The major limitation to the expansion of transplant therapies is the chronic disparity between the supply and the demand of organs. Considering that decisionâ??making at the endâ??ofâ??life should be based, not exclusively on medical, but also ethical, social and spiritual issues. Hence, health care providers should proceed under a holistic approach in the interests of patients once all curative treatments have been disregarded. |
