Abstract
Title: | DCD vs DBD: End of Life or Gift of Life |
Body: | Donation after cardiac death (DCD) involves donation of organs after irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory function. Donation after brain death (DBD) involves donation of organs after the patient meets criteria for death by neurological criteria. Everything has its own pros and cons. However, we should re-evaluate which is the best choices depending on the situation. End of life care refers to health care provided in the time leading up to a person's death. Gift of life is saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donation. Thus, at every end of each life, there will be an opportunity for a gift of life. |
